Poem : I Let Her Drift Away

 I Let Her Drift Away
Irie Salvador

I closed my eyes and let my soul drift away

I let her drift away

I closed my eyes and let my soul drift away

I let her drift away

Where she belongs

The place inside her

The deep end of her heart

Where she belongs

I closed my eyes and let my soul drift away

I let her drift away

I closed my eyes and let my soul drift away

I let her drift away

To find the her she never could say

Always standing looking from the bay

The ships of brave souls sailing away

To find their destiny -their heart’s way

My soul is done standing on the ledge

I’ve waited long enough

Take a deep breath-spread your wings-let go

Reach out-eagle, take me

I closed my eyes and let my soul drift away

I let her drift away

I closed my eyes and let my soul drift away

I let her drift away

She’ll cry no more-No

She’ll cry no more

Life is on her side

Truth is her light-Yes

I closed my eyes and let my soul drift away

I let her drift away

I closed my eyes and let my soul drift away

I let her drift away

Where she belongs

The place inside her

The deep end of her heart

Where she belongs

I closed my eyes and let my soul drift away

I let her drift away

I closed my eyes and let my soul drift away

I let her drift away

  1. A great poem, Irie. Reading it makes me drift away to a painless world of beauty and the smell of a thousand flowers lingering in the very air I breathe. Thank you
