Chapter 44

Could You Have Imagined?

At the conclusion of the memorable evening at Max’s estate, Dani chauffeured Eye and Dacque back to her apartment building, where their vehicles were parked. Eye thanked Dani for the ride, and hurried on her way. Dacque tarried awhile, and he and Dani chatted outside, in the delightfully-cool, evening air.

Dacque turned towards his car, then stopped and circled to face Dani. “Could you have imagined, when we first met in MacDunnah Park, and you told that interfering old man, politely, mind you, to get lost, that your life could possibly progress to this point in six months?”

“Never in a million years,” Dani replied, and gave Dacque a quick hug. "I make it a habit not to dwell on it, but sometimes I do wonder how different my life would be today, if God had not steered you to 'our bench,' that day in the Park. I am so blessed to have you in my life."

"You have certainly brought much sunshine into my life," Dacque added. "God's wonders never cease. It will be exciting to discover what He has planned for us for our next six months, or six years."

"One thing we can count on - it won't be dull."

"You've got that right."
