By Rachel Gladstone-Gelman
(Excerpted from In Public)
Will One Die Before the Other?
She breathes with her
hand on the control,
as six-hour intervals
shrink to fifteen
minutes
She can walk to the
door if a chair is
waiting
She used to assist him
at the commode
He limply, bravely travels
to the commode
Careful not to jar the
central wire lodged in
his chest
Next stop it will be
removed
From which angle will
they be watching
